Mag switch wiring PT-19

'Dear List,

I'm reconnecting wires and tubes, etc, to the newly rebuilt Ranger
engine, and see there are 3 wires from the mag switch - Left, Right, and
Ground. L & R are clear enough where they connect, but it's not clear
where the ground should connect. The wiring diagram shows it going to
ground, and the wire length is 50-1/2". It would seem it can be
connected almost anywhere on the engine and function as ground, but I
expect there is a standard location where this wire likes to be
connected. Can anyone please advise?

Thanks,
David

'The preferred location for that ground is the magneto housing. 2nd choice is the engine case. I do not like grounding to the airframe then hoping the engine grounded through it's mount to the same airframe stays grounded.'

Ranger Vacuum Pump

Been chasing high oil consumption for quite awhile on my Fairchild. Just installed rebuilt Ranger 200 hp (8.1 hrs).  Noting excessive oil on belly below vacuum pump vent/drain.

Recommendations on pump rebuild shop, or replacement yellow-tag?
