PT-19/23/26 Landing Gear Leg
' Hi gang, I am in need of the left landing gear strut for my PT-19, P/N 61112 (LH). The reason I need it is because the scissor bushings in it are completely worn out. These bushings are installed in a portion of the tabs that are welded onto the strut assembly to connect the strut to the lower scissor link. Because of the welding, at least on mine, they don't just push out easily. If someone has a good one it would be a bit easier than having a local machine shop repair it, unless you have a good recommendation for a shop that has experience fixing these things. I bought my PT a few years ago from a museum that will remain nameless. Although it was sold with a "fresh" annual, I knew it needed some work to get it were I wanted it. That was a gross underestimate. I started on the annual quite some time ago and found issues in almost every area that I looked at, including engine breather plumbing, hoses, tail strut, tires, flight control rigging (rudder), control rod bearings, instruments, seats (coming apart), brakes and now almost 2 inches of side-to-side play in the left main landing gear scissors! Although frustrating, I've had a lot of help with this group and really appreciate the team effort that keeps these airplanes flying. Any info would be appreciated. I live in the Charlotte, NC area. BTW, I needed bungee cords for the seat adjust mechanism, so I sent Fairchild drawing (#67102) to a shop that specializes in that kind of thing and they did a nice job with it. They look like the original (with some modern improvements) and work excellent. Here's their info: Hook & Cord P. O. Box 1728 Medford, OR 97501 (541) 772-3548 Ask for Kevin, or email him directly at KevinM@hookandcord.com. He is saving the notes on the final version of the bungees for the PT-19 and will reproduce it on request. Tell him that's what you want. Only about $50 each! 'HOLY SMOKE,…. I suggest that you DO name the museum. Possibly to save someone else from the same misery.Fritz From: fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com [mailto:fairchildclub@yahoogroups.com]
