Fairchild Club Forum

'I tried to sell this Very Rare Fairchild as a complete project. with a lot of tire kickers but no takers.  Come monday I will start parting this plane out.  I hate to do this as this plane has the best history of all fairchild 24. and on top of that and according to internet they only built 10 model G's that year.  OK enough about the plane. Here are some of the parts I have available.
New left wing spars---Best workmanship you ever see
Used right wing spars
Right wing struts
New wing Ribs----Best workmanship you will ever see.
Oleo's In great shape  disassembled for inspection.
wheel brake tire hubs. L and R
Tail wheel Assemble complete                                                                 New Seats.
old seats.  There even people that will pay for a low N   There is over 20K worth of parts here and I will still sell this as a complete project for the full price of $3,500 dollars before Monday just to save this plane. 'I would like to get some more info on this rare 24G you have. I am in the market for a project plane. I've been looking long and hard at a Stinson 108 but my mind could be changed. Actually I have never done a project plane before but I think a Fairchild would be an awesome plane to have. It might be a month or two before I could make it to Oregon to pick it up. 'Yes I do have data plate and yes my plane is reg. and active with the FAA. When I bought the plane the FAA had no problem offering me a ferry permit to get the plane home. That was a little over a year ago.

'Good morning  The plane was powered by a Warner SS 145 hp. Last I talk to the owner of the engine he said he would sell it complete FWF for 20K. and yes that is the FWF from this plane.  The engine and all the components including a metal prop. are [0] time since major.  OK now on to the next question. I have 2 log books for this plane.  I have FAA records that show the complete history up to 1945 and most records after that date. This was a plane built for the CCA/FAA  The FAA has kept pretty good and complete records on this plane. There were 2 log books that were used and filled out by the Navy during WW2.  I have the second one. OK I said this is a very rare plane as Fairchild 24's go.  So here we go. The plane was the first of 2 planes built for the new CCA.  This plane and its sister plane were the first 2 plane drafted into the war Dec 17th 1941.  Was decommission 1945 and sold to WSP  Washington state police. It was the first plane they own and used.  and on top of that according to the internet searches and sites. they only built 10 Fairchild 24G model planes that year. Can it get any better YES as this is the only Fairchild to ever become a submarine. web search . RISING FROM THE DEEP ... What a history. and only one still reg flying 1938 Fairchild 24G with Warner engine in the world. I would bet money that there is no other Fairchild 24 that can compare to this rarity and history.  and now for last comment The Stimson is a great plane as it is one of my all time favorite planes. There are 2 things that the Fairchild has that the Stimson does not. A Round Engine and a Stick.  One other thing if you buy a stinson Go a head a buy a STC for a up grade 220 hp'
