'The past few months we have been in process of having springs made for the 24 gear struts. Today I received two springs that were made to the requirements of drawing 43256, and they will not fit the lower strut barrels of Steve's aircraft.
I find there is a difference in the struts of the early 24s and the later models, Drawing 43256 gives the models of F-24-W44 & R44,, F-24-w41 & W41A,, UC61K,, UC61A,, F-24- W40 & R40,, F-24-R&W-9. at some point the size of the lower barrel changed.
We are back to square 1 block 1 in finding two matching springs that measure 1.75" Diameter, and 7.5" long or at least 1 spring we can match to the 1 we have.
The springs that we received today are the larger springs that fit the drawing 43256. at 2.250" X 7'5"'

' Hi Tom I ran into the same strut issue when I picked up my 1937 F24H model project. Drawings are not available for the early struts and mine were toast. You have two options. You can use the later strut for which drawings are available or you can do as I did and fabricate new early style struts. If you only need springs you may be in luck. My project came with new springs which appear to be commercially available die springs. I'll try to get a supplier name and spring number today. You may also try McMaster -Carr. They have an online catalog.
