'Hi Frank:

The FAIRCHILD Club has a Ranger instruction book that we sell for $10.00. John Berendt had it re-printed from an original manual. It has sevrice instructions, accessories, trouble shooting,Operation, construction, specifiactions, installation&removal.I think it has better instructions for mag and valve timing for the engine than the Overhaul manual does.

'Thank you Mike - and happy new year,

I have been lucky enough to have a couple of replies via my private mail - one with a copy from the 1944 military AN 02-50AA-3 publication and one from a1943 civilian publication.

I was actually after the values for the nuts that attach the accessories and it is interesting to note that the torques for for these nuts differs between the two publication although AC43-13 agrees with the civilian version. Perhaps the military employed 'muscle men' and kept everything over tight!!

So - it's 'two against one' and I will go with the majority in this case!

I have planned to visit Oshkosh this year and hope to meet you and the team there - I'll also visit New Holstein, 30 miles up the road, for the Super Cub gathering which runs concurrently.

Just off to my 'Shed' to bend some new oil tubes - Heat to anneal and fill with sand and a locally made bender - Hopefully I will not waste too much!

Frank
