'Anybody have info on what units operated these airplanes during the war?'

'There's a website I go to from time to time when I have lots of time on my hands for research. Aviation Archaeology. You can go into their database and look up that information. Off to the right on their main page is: AAIR Database. Type in UC-61. There's quite a few instances of the aircraft crashing, getting shot down, etc. They give information as to where, what squadron, etc. Hope this helps.

Our UC-61K Forwarder was accepted by the USAAF in May 1944 as 43-14964 . It was then leased to the RAF and shipped to UK in Sept. 1944 where it was accepted into the RAF as an Argus III tail number HB-690. We have documents that it served with the ATA, Air Transport Authority until declared surplus in 1946.
If the airplane gods smile upon us it will be up and flying next summer in all her RAF best.

Our UC-61K Forwarder was accepted by the USAAF in May 1944 as 43-14964 . It was then leased to the RAF and shipped to UK in Sept. 1944 where it was accepted into the RAF as an Argus III tail number HB-690. We have documents that it served with the ATA, Air Transport Authority until declared surplus in 1946.
If the airplane gods smile upon us it will be up and flying next summer in all her RAF best.

'My wife Peggy and I own UC-61A 43-14409, and our research indicates it was culled from a batch of several hundred Argus destined for the UK. It was delivered to Wright Field on January 31, 1943 and surplused in Cincinnati April 6, 1945. It is a basket case at this time, SLOWLY being restored. We are trying to find documentation for the original colors and markings, and that has been slow going.

'Our UC-61 was sold to Jean-Pierre Gandon, based in BLois (45minute south from our base)...
But I still keep interest on these marvelous machines.
