'For those of you who have researched the military service records of
your Fairchild PTs through the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum Archives
in Washington and/or the Air Force Historical Research Agency (AFHRA) at
Maxwell AFB, Alabama, I would be very pleased to hear from any of you
who have planes used in WASP training at Avenger Field (may be referred
to as Sweetwater Field), Sweetwater, Texas. I have AAF records showing
that there were anywhere from 60 to 108 PT-19s assigned in Sweetwater
during 1943.
Incidentally, my Aeronca-built PT-19, AAF 43-31463, was in service at
Thompson Robbins Field in Helena, Arkansas, from January through July,
1944.

Fairchild parts specs
'A quick question for anyone that has the Fairchild Drawings CD....Does
the index show a drawing sheet for the bushings for the spars for any of
the attach fittings or hinge fittings? The drawing should have a number
format something like: FS104-xxx-x.xxx . I'm fairly sure my AT-21
microfilm has it, but I don't have the ability to peruse through 800-900
feet of film right now looking for it. Unfortunately, the 9 reels for
the AT have no index and are not in any semblance of an order on the
film. I'm just looking for how to translate the part number into
physical size so that I can start working up some raw stock size
information.
Thanks,
Craig C.'

Re: Fairchild parts specs
'Are these for the AT or would the PT wing and center section bushings be the same. Send a part number.
I can refer you to a company that can scan the rolls of film and put the digital drawings on to DVDs. I did the PT rolls and it cost about $1000.00.

Re: Fairchild parts specs
'Gene: These are for the AT. I suspect that the ones for the PT center
section and wings are spec'd identically. One of the spec numbers that I
have is: FS104-D64-.984
I'll bet that when I decode the spec, it will give the bushing
diameter, thru hole diameter and the overall length besides the material
and finish. I've got about 15-20 different diameters and probably a
dozen different lengths to go with them, to manufacture. Total quantity
for all the various sizes is going to be over 400 pieces I believe. I
need to work on getting my 3D Cad skills back up to speed and bushings
and brackets are easy ones to get started with.
