'Additional pointer on using an old VW Beetle jack:
the jack's vertical construction is round, slip a rubber hose over the body to
protect the paint on the landing gear.

for anyone interested, an old VW beetle Jack fits in the wheel shaft hollow,
works great and is light if your needing to carry one for any reason.
