Warner 145 Spark Plugs

'Need info fast! Just installing a fresh engine from a well-known shop. The Warner 145 originally had the plugs that were contained within the Breeze (?) bell type shields with bails. The shop installed Skytronics harness and REM40E plugs. Great, modern. However, they don't fit very well. At all. Either front or back. In back, too close to exhaust manifold. In front there is actually interference with the ring cowl on the F-24G, barely 1/8" clearance. We tried some NOS C-26S plugs, and that helped a bit. Overhauler says this has never come up before, but geometry is what it is.
Can anyone out there shed light on this? What plugs are used on the 24G's with the 145? Been through it with this plane, just trying like heck to get it back in the air.Everything else coming together, but trying to make OSH.
Thanks in advance.
