'We have an extra rudder here which seems to NOT be off an F-24 c8c.
It is a good bit taller and a bit deeper near the tip. It has several distinttive features.
It has a piece of rod at the tip top in line with the hinge pins
which I am guessing is a mounting point for a swiveling wire antenna
attach point (?). Also on 2 of the ribs (on only one side) it has
spring steel strips which fit over the steel tubes. They have feet
at the ends which are loosely crimped on but so as to allow them to slide across the tibing. In the center of these flat springs there
is a screw which goes through into a hole threaded into the tubing.
When you turn the screw the spring either bulges outward or lays
flatter against the tube rib. I believe this is some kind of
variable airfoil to function as a trim tab to trim out the rudder.
(first one I've seen .... but I am only learning about the old ways)
also has a light bracket on the trailing edge even verticly with thr
counterbalance.

some dimentions are as follows:

35 deep (front to back) at counterbalance (including counterbalanced
area.
16 from counterbalance to tip, (verticle measurement)
control horn is 15+1/2 up from bottom,
hinge points are 3+1/2, 19+1/2, and 49 up from bottom.
the counterbalance portion is 16+3/4 from pivot point to most
foreward point.(horizonal measurement)

any ideas what this might be off of ????????

'Tim,

I don't know what you have, but my Fairchild 24-C has the adjustable trim-tabs (made up of spring steel) that are exactly as you describe.

Dear Bob:
I will try to figure out how to post a photo of it !
It also looks different from a the 1938 F--24 ( 46W ????? )
as well as different from the 34 model.
