'I'm currently trying to rebuild the master brake cylinders on my 1946 F-24 project. The cylinder data plate identifies them as Wagner FE2014 Master brake cylinders. I've checked all the old Fairchild Club posts on Yahoo and purchased NAPA kit # 1 for the rebuild. I found the pistons in the kit were much longer and would not function properly in this application.
Is there another kit for these cylinders?
At least one of the cylinders will need to be sleeved so I will also need to identify what year, make and model car these cylinders were used on.
I found "White Post Restorations" (through the internet), will sleeve these cylinders with brass sleeves and complete the rebuild for $175 each. Are there any special instructions needed to pass on to them?
Are there any other shops recommended for this service?

When I overhauled my brake system on the F24 I bought the cylinder kit from Napa as you did. The only parts usable are the rubber parts. Discard the piston. I had only a little roughness on the cylinder walls, and they honed out nicely. I never saw an identification plate, but they certainly looked original .Whatever type of rebuild you do, be sure the very small hole (compensation hole) in the bottom of the cylinder wall does not become blocked. Sorry, I can't remember the exact brake kit number.

The pistons in the kit ARE longer. Most of us just keep the original piston. If you need new pistons, there was an old Fairchild Flyer article that showed how to cut down the ones from the repair kit. It involved cutting out part of the piston and welding the remaining halves together.

'Not sure cylinders are same as PT series. If same, you can get new
cylinders for Beech 18. I replaced cylinders on our PT-19 few years back.
They are exact replacement.

'They are 1" cylinders and work great.. These have been in use 4 or 5 years
now. Don't remember the manufacture.
