wing interchangeability question and wings for sale ?

'Can yall tell me if the wing structure is the same on an f-24
between a 34/35 and a 1938 model? (ignoring the differences
due to flap/no flap and fuel tank differences ) Did the wood
structure remain basicly the same ????????

Also are there any good wings out there for sale ???????

'There is a letter from the factory in this web board (someplace) stating all wings in the 24 series are the same. I donated it from my aircraft's history records to the club. last I knew Dan Casali had the file.

Yes I have a set, they come with 4 jury struts, wired for stroes, and wing tip lights, including the fuselage and tail groupe, with warner 165 attached, all flying and looking great.

I can deliver the whole thing for $75K'

I can see is that the earlier aerolons come out to the end of the
wing on the 34 (and come to a point) and the 38 aerolon has a squarish end which stops about 2 feet short of the wingtip.

What would you take for a rudder ? :-)

'I could probably agree that F-24 wings are interchangable, but they are not identical. My 1946 F-24, due to accident repairs, had one left ex-military wing, and a right Pre-War civilian wing. If I wanted to drive people nuts, I should have put the right Nav light on the leading edge, and the left Nav light on the tip, even after I rebuilt both. The civilian wing didn't have some of the braces that the military wing did. There was several pieces of 1" X 1" spruce that was inserted, in the aileron area, from the top and bottom of the front spar, directly aft to the rear spar. (Reason: to eliminate torque from being applied to the spars/ribs?) They are still uncovered, if someone has specific questions. I am winging this right off the top of my head, and it is stuff that I did over 10 years ago. The only other fact that I remember was the fabric pull-up strip located in the flap area was much more stout than on the pre-war version. The only other thing that I found to be nicer, was the bushings in the military wing, and I assume the Post-War wings, all were anodized. Pre-war wing bushings, as noted during tear-down, showed any where from slight to considerable corrosion. Bolts and other hardware were corroded. The compression struts and brackets, not so much.
