'Hi, folks. I am a new member and I do have fond memories of flying with a friend of mine many years ago in his F24R.

I am looking for a 3D CAD drawing of the Ranger engine so I can proceed with a modeling project I'm working on. If anyone has an idea where I could get my hands on such a thing, I would really appreciate it.

Wouldn't an opaque image at right angles to the engine do? Considering all
you need to do is place it in the background layer of your CAD file? What
scale is your project?

'Thanks guys. All this really helps but if I can get my hands on a 3D CAD
drawing there is an outfit called Print-A-Part that can make a master for
me to use making the mold for resin casting of multiple engines for model
use. It's a neat process that, for lack of an easier explanation, prints in
3D layer by layer. It's looking more and more like I'll need to get
measurements off an engine and build my own masters. I would also like to
get my hands on a 3D CAD drawing of the cylinder for an R4360 for the same
thing since I want to build a 1/8 scale display model of it for AAA museum.
Short of that, I'll need to get a cylinder or access to one so I can take
the measurements and create my own master. I may not live long enough for
that project though.

Once again, thank you all so very much. By the way, the F24R I hitched a
ride in to Rockford two days after coming out of a year long rebuild in an
old bakery building. She flew a little right wing heavy but, not a big deal
that was fixed when we got back home. Ah, memories.

'Well, John, the genesis of this request goes back to the Open Wheel Yahoo
group. One of the guys would like to build a Ranger powered sprint car
model. The Rangers were cheap and didn't do badly until the small block
Chevys took over. That got me to thinking about that and some possibilities
including airplanes and boats that used the same engines. I'm not using any
plans for anything right now since this is the germ of an idea. If I can
make the masters, I could produce several engines for myself and others by
resin casting. I would also like to build just engines for the AAA museum
and I've accumulated several kits for that project. Too bad they are all
different scales but, they'll be OK for what I want to do. The R4360
project has a lot of appeal but, who knows where that will go. Seems like I
have more ideas than I have life left to complete them.

The reason I asked is I own a plans business and sell F-24 plans in 1/3
scale and 1/6 scale. My drawings include both Ranger and round engine
versions. I'm working on drawings for a PT-19 which has the Ranger.
