Trim tab cable stops

Post by Tom Mueller »

'Anybody know of a good substitute for the Elevator trim tab cable
stops. There are none in my late production TemcoR46. Its way to easy
to crank in excessive noise up trim on a gliding power off approach.
Anything on the market? Anything owner manufactured that will
substitute. Blueprints show a micarta style clamped arraignment just
aft of the two cable guides in the cockpit roof. I guess they just
bump into this guide and limit travel. I'd really like suggestions on
this, I dropped the plane in at five feet the other day, and I don't
want to do that again. Thanks in advance.

'Giday, Tom. Would a "bug nut " or some modification of a similar part work?
I've only seen bug nuts clamping onto throttle or carb heat cables but it might
work for a trim control cable too.

'The Trim cable stops that I have are start with 2 small clamps. Them they clamp down on a split cylinder of aluminum, that is approximately the same diameter as the clamps, with a hole, drilled through the middle that is slightly smaller than the cable diameter. Mine are installed just aft of the rear hat spar of the fuselage.
I can get you a picture and or more precise measurements.
