'Does anyone have documents for a PT-19 or 26 that they will not need. We
have a project aircraft with a gap in ownership when a previous owner passed away
with no one left to sign a bill of sale.

'Wouldn't the executor of the will be able to do that, or the widow, or
desendents of the estate?

'So far we are unable to find any info since the only relative we could find
has also died several years ago. This is very old paperwork. The man we
purchased from had also attempted to resolve the issue. I am pretty sure, once I
have all my ducks in a row I will be able to get something from the FAA.

'I would contact Joe Norris at EAA. Phone number is in your EAA magazine. He will know how to resolve your problem. You are not the first person to run up against airplane titles and lack of ownership.

'Contact your local sheriff, in many states any property left with
unclamd for over 30 days might be yours by default. and a letter from
the local court will be enough for the FAA to transfere title.

'Gene,
Have you talked to anyone at the aircraft registration branch in Oklahoma City?  We went through that once, we sent letters by registered mail to the last person who owned the airplane.  When they were returned to us, we had proof that the previous owner no longer existed.
