Folks,

I'm having a problem with sourcing the small brass compression fittings
on the ends of the aluminium fuel lines (2 in and 1 out)where they
enter and exit the fuel on/off valves in my UC61K rebuild project. I
cannot rescue the old ones as they have been compressed around the
corroded alloy pipes to such an extent that the internal diameter of
the pipe is reduced. Even if I did get them off they would not fit over
the new pipe.

I'd be interested to know of any method anyone might have used to
overcome the problem; possibly with a suitable combination of adaptor
fittings or knowledge of a secret supplier/manufacturer of these
compression fittings!

You might try it. I took 12 double flair compression rings (air conditioner stuff), and carefully cut one of the flairs off. It gave me a single flair on one side and a squared off shoulder on the other side. I used a lathe and put the compression ring in the jaws of the head stock, but backed it up with a hardened rod, so I wouldn't distort the ring. Out of the 12 rings, I got the 8 really good ones that I wanted.

We may have some new (old) fuel shut off valves still in cloth bags complete with original compression fittings. Would you be interested?

- Thank you for the offer but my fuel cocks are both in good shape - I think it would be overkill to replace them for the sake of the compression fittings - however if I am totally stuck may I come back to you?
