'was looking at some of the f-24 c8c cables today- specificly the cable
loop which cranks the stab screw jack up and down from the cockpit roof.
It appears that the cable is a complete loop with NO ENDS !
Can't see any splices ! Anyone know how this was made ?
Was it knitted in one piece ??????

It is an endless cable! There is a person building new ones. It is an art as there is a long splice! I will dig out the address tomorrow.

'I am going through the same mystery on my cabin waco, where the continuous loop cable is starting to fray. A local AI said that there is a company called McFarland that makes such cables in one piece. Some old timers claim that they can be woven together, but others insist that the thickened section will jamm up in the pulleys, so I'd steer clear of that route. The Waco folks have told me about a couple of other sources too, but I haven't been able to contact them yet.

thanks Frank ! I didn't know if it was spliced or if it was made
from a single strand of wire. I noticed that the brake cable ends
where they go through the arms on the hub have a very neat looking
re-woven splice. Thanks for tonys info. Hope to have it up on the
gear in the next 2 or 3 weeks. It is a tribute to the quality of
old aircraft like these that they are so restorable after so many
years. I doubt some of the "modern" stressed skin types will last
that many years.
Thanks for the help !
