host our annual BBQ ( cookout y'all) on the Friday night. We've cooked for
and held a party for up to 80 people at earlier SNF years but will keep it down to
about 50 this year. Any Fairchilder is welcome and while I've made the invite
to you before, I was advised by Jamie Treat that you normally meet under the
wing of a F24 on the field to commiserate. I guess you hit the sack early, etc.
No harm there...I'm thinking some of you have accomodation locally anyway.
If anyone is interested in more info on our BBQ...pls. contact me off line.
On the other hand, if there was enough interest in smaller, Fairchild only
gathering / cookout at our trailer on another evening, please say so.
By the way, progress on my 51 is coming along. The fuselage is on the gear,
engine mount done, engine, prop, exhaust on hand, forward controls about
90% done, panel is about 50%, fuselage wing attach/ pivot parts
(folding wing airplane) about 90% done and I just finished my left wing front
box spar. The spar box plates are 1/8" two ply 45 deg ply...one piece each
...240" long, just under 11" deep. You won't get that at Aircraft Spruce !

If the stuff is real viscous and slick it may be DOT 5. I have
used this fluid for 10 years.
It is compatible with the seals and will not remove paint. Remember if you
change the fluid, pump
It in from the bleeder with an oil can. Will you be at Sun&Fun this year?
I'll be there to show and sell!

What is the popular fluid to use in the brake system for the PT-19.
The brake reservoir is about half full and the fluid is colorless but
doesn't smell the same as the Dot 3 fluid that is in the landing gear
struts. The Old Army maintenance CD calls it "hydraulic brake fluid"
bit it's not RED.
