To All
I've heard a lot about the smooth running Ranger that can be a great
engine with modifications to control oil consumption. Since I'm new to
the site, I'll ask an obvious question. Has any work been done to
develop a new Ranger engine with new technology, and the improvements
the engine is known to need?

Not a very good approach with either engine. Reduces aircraft to a legal
two place aircraft. Must play with the fuel load. Also makes it nose
heavy. With the Cleveland brakes, you will/can end up on your nose or
back. Also places additional stress on the gear joints and gear attach
fittings. Suggest you stick with a Ranger or Warner. If the M-14 or the
LOM was ever Type Cert, this would be an option.
