Have you or do you know someone that has suscessfully installed a
Infinity Pre-Oiler (http://www.infinityaerospace.com) on any Type
Certified (TC) aircraft. Currently the only FAA/PMA approved pump is
the OilOmatic made in Denver, CO. It is a nice unit, but big and heavy.
I will be installing the Infinity on a 1933 Waco YKC. FAA has rejected
my 337 due to not an FAA/PMA approved part. They agree 100% that it
should be installed. If I can find one person that has success in
obtaining a one time field, I can use as back-up data. This would open
the door for many airplane owners.

What I recommend, is contracting the services of an FAA DER for
engines & systems. If you can show that failure of the pre-oiler has
no impact on engine/aircraft operation when inoperative, and meets
fit, form & function of the a/c systems etc., and get an FAA Form
8110-3 from the DER, the form becomes the approved data & will ease
the FAA for field approval.Alternatively get a group of owners
together & make an STC. The part would then be approved through use
of the STC.I certainly would support such a project for use in my
Fairchild 24W & I'm sure others would too. The warbird community is
using pre-oilers & they most certainly prolong the life of the
engine. If you want to go the DER or STC route, count me in as an
investor.
