337 Bushwheel (Scott) 3200 for Fairchild 24G

'Hi All,
I have (finally) uploaded to the group Files section the 337 used to add
an Alaskan Bushwheel (Scott) 3200 tailwheel to my 24G. The file name is
bushwheel -scott- tailwheel 337.pdf
I now have about 25 hrs on the aircraft since the new tailwheel was
installed. In general, I am satisfied with the performance of the
installation. The aircraft is easily controllable on roll-out, and there
hasn't been the slightest shimmy from the tailwheel on pavement.
There are two minor issues to be resolved:
1) At very slow taxi speeds, the tailwheel springs are not stiff enough
to consistently initiate a turn, especially to the left (go figure). A
light tap of the break gets the wheel turning.
I had a conversation with Bill Duncan, owner of Alaskan Bushwheel. He
suggested I swap in the steering arm from the Bushwheel ABI 3224A, as it
provides more leverage. (The 3224A tailwheel is identical in all other
aspects to the 3200 I installed, and costs the same ) If you are doing
this from scratch, order the 3224A.

2) I have twice had the tailwheel spring pop loose from the oval ring
that connects it to the tailwheel steering arm (left side both times...
hmm). Since I'm used to having no steering whatsoever, this hasn't been
serious, but I would like to correct it.
