Original air filter

Post by Tom Mueller »

'Fairchild club,
I've got the original wire mesh air filter on a 200 hp Ranger. This
annual I took a real hard look it for the first time. I sank it in a
bucket of fuel, really worked it around quit a bit, then used
compressed air to blow through the mesh.
I was really surprised at the almost negligible amount of air
coming through the other side. Does anybody still use the original
filter or is it time to get with program and get one of those new
designed air filters. I'm just concerned because I don't feel any
air coming through. Other than that, the engine does run strong.
