Warner Wheels/Brakes

Post by Steve »

'I have Warner wheels and brakes on my Fairchild 22. Took wheels off
today to examine brakes. I believe I need to put new brake linings on
shoes. Anyone have any suggestions on how best to do? Type of brake
lining? From what year/model automobile?

What can be done about wear to brake drum (steel insert into wheel)?

Need help, please. Steve'

Warner Wheels/Brakes

Post by Steve »

'In a previous post I asked for help putting new brake linings on my
Warner Wheels on my Fairchild Model 22. I was hoping to find the
corresponding auto rivet-on linings. No help. So, I found original
style semi-metalic brake lining material in the McMaster-Carr catalog
(comes in different widths and thicknesses - cheap too). Using rivets
from Aircraft Spruce, I managed to install new brake linings.

Now, I am looking for the brake return springs which pull the brake
shoes back when pedal is released. I did alot of searching but can't
find any. If someone out there knows where to get those springs, I
would truly appreciate it. Perhaps they correspond to some automobile.

Would appreciate some help. Regards, Steve, Madison, VA'
