Fw: Stroud's 2006 Sun n Fun BBQ

'Giday, Gary..here's the standard blurb on our BBQ. Kindly be aware that this is
not a "Fairchild Only" gathering. We have many attendees from many interests.
All aviation enthusiasts are welcome. I don't think there are any "Fairchild only"
social events held. Like Jamie Treat said the last time, the Fairchild crowd normally
just meets under the wing of a flown in plane. Perhaps I could twist your arm with
a cold one and some food?

Stroud's Sun n Fun BBQ 2006
What, Why, Where, When and How:
What ? This will be the Stroud's sixth annual Sun n Fun BBQ. It's a pretty good party starting
at 4 PM and it goes till the last one leaves. Please be aware..this is a party. There will be plenty
of food and "beverages" consumed. We serve BBQ pork tenderloin on a bun with cole slaw,
potato salad, dill pickles, nacho chips and dip, regular chips and dip etc. We request a donation
of $7. on site. All beverages are $2. We serve beer, wine( a first this year ), soft drinks, juice and
water. NO BYOB..NONE, thanks. I'll make another couple of batches of my Kanuk Kooler this
year too. It's a smooth rum punch which has been known to wobble the knees of some participants.
We have free draws too, normally a copy of AC43-13, engine conversion manuals, magazine
subscriptions etc. We served over 80 people at our last one.
Why ? We started doing these BBQs six years ago after participating in a frustrating turn of events
trying to get together with a group of attendees at a local restaurant nearby. Coordinating transportation,
getting lost and forgetting to pick people up were only part of the problem. Hey..why travel all the way
to SNF just to leave the place to eat? On site is where it's at. There are good food, beverage and
entertainment facilities on site too. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is a favourite of ours. You can't have
a private party there though.
Where? We park our travel trailer in the "Overflow Parking Lot" and we usually arrive a day before SNF
starts to get a good spot along the fence pretty much abaft the threshold of runway 9 with a pretty good
view of the fly bys etc. The entrance to this parking lot is adjacent to the Campground Host's Kiosk. The
on site Brown 2 free shuttle bus will get you to the there or you can walk. The Campground Host Staff
know of our event and will give you final directions to our location. Look for the white AWARD trailer, the
Canadian flag and the burgundy 1/2 ton Dodge. Bring a lawn chair if you have one.
When ? Sun n Fun runs from Tuesday to Monday this year, April 4th to 10th inclusive. Our BBQ is
on Friday, April 7th..4 pm
How ? RESERVATIONS ARE NECESSARY to pull this thing off. We've got to buy supplies days in advance.
We're sticking our neck out..rain or shine. WE NEED TO KNOW the following in each reservation. HOW
MANY in your party, WHAT THE PREFERENCE OF BEVERAGE of each person is ( this is no time to
be shy, either ) and just for fun, approx. where you are from. Email me directly please dstroud@storm.ca
with your reservation. We recognize that plans can change quickly some times and there may be some
last minute adjustments, delays or additions to your group. We leave home for our holiday on March 28th
so please have your info to me by then. Reserve directly to me please..not on list. If you have last minute
changes on site, try to leave a note ahead of time at our trailer..or just drop in for a cold one anyway.
There's a cooler just under the trailer with some cold ones in it if we're not there. Feel free. Thanks.
