'The time is slowly approaching where I need to install the interior on my 'Beast'

Does anybody have/know anybody that has/know where I could beg/borrow/copy or steal Drawings or patterns for the cockpit upholstery - bearing in mind that this is the military version with the glazed overhead panels

Compliments of the season to all

'Giday, Frank. Could you pls describe the glazed overhead panels? Thanks.
Mine was a Military one once too and will go back that way with British Argus
markings etc. What is the Military version using for side panels also? Any photos
of yours available? Thanks.

My Partner Bob Coon And I have spent upwards of 40 man

they have not made a headliner for fairchilds for some
time. Since we have the military version with the

We purchased some FAA approved headliner material in
yards from airtex. Its not a perfect match to the
original slamon colored tweed looking headliner, but it
will do.
over the next couple weeks we will be reinstalling the
home made pattern to make sure all the new wood is
correct and that the pattern is perfect. we will take
bunches of photo's and accurate mesurements. So if you
guys can wait a bit, we may be able to assist you with
the pattern.

p.s. our aircraft had a USAAF Serial Number 43-14964

'I use Part 23 as my guidance when installing new interiors in old airplanes.
Very simple effort. Get quality materials, treat them with fire retardant
spay and perform burn tests. Document in look book and life goes on. Your
FAA office will want to see that you have complied, esp if you are involved
with a Conformance inspection.

It also makes any new buyers and also don't forget the insurance companies
and lawyers.

'Giday, James. My records indicate that my UC61-A was serial number 373, AAF ser.
no. 43-14409. It was sold to the Pure Oil Company on March 22, 1945 for $7,669.08
and became NC47053. It had a colourful history afterwards including two repossessions
by the Midland Finance Corp in the late '40's from a couple of private owners. It came into
Canada in 1973 and became C-FDAE. Remarkably, I am the 25th owner of this plane.

There are some discrepancies in the record keeping also. My logs and records are very
extensive and interesting to sift through. I have a letter here from Theron Rinehart of the
Fairchild Republic Company dated Feb 16, 1983 written to David Hilchie of the Yukon
Territory indicating that this plane was one of 509 UC-61A's built for the USAAF under
contract no. W-535-ac-28335 and the serial no. in fact is 43-413 contradicting the
serial no. given above.

I am very interested in viewing any pictures, etc. that you may have. Thanks..

Hello Frank and David-

My Partner Bob Coon And I have spent upwards of 40 man
hours researching, measuring and creating a headliner
pattern for our UC-61K. We tried the Airtex route, but
they have not made a headliner for fairchilds for some
time. Since we have the military version with the
Overhead Plexi-glass we decided to "do it ourselves"
We purchased some FAA approved headliner material in
yards from airtex. Its not a perfect match to the
original slamon colored tweed looking headliner, but it
will do.
over the next couple weeks we will be reinstalling the
home made pattern to make sure all the new wood is
correct and that the pattern is perfect. we will take
bunches of photo's and accurate mesurements. So if you
guys can wait a bit, we may be able to assist you with
the pattern.

p.s. our aircraft had a USAAF Serial Number 43-14964
and it also flew with the RAF as HB-690. ARGUS III
with the Ranger engine.
Our baby is also being painstakinly restored from the
ground up and will fly in RAF Markings.
I am trying to complie a list of remaing militarty
Fairchilds.
send me as much info and pictures you can! I can also
assist with the research of your planes!

thanks! Keep 'Em Flying

'hi Guys-
either using Part 23, or any other FAA regulation, it
still the installers due dillagence to do it
correctly. Since I bought the material from Airtex,
they sent a Burn Cert document. It will be noted in
the Airframe log book and filed in the aircraft's dash
1 file. I really enjoy hearing all the input! The club
knowledge has really helped us!
Thanks!

'WOW!
25th owner!
I will do some checking with my contact at the RAF
Museum and see if your plane was a lend/lease. Does
your plane still have all the original throttle and
mixture rods and links, or did someone put in cables?
Also need a original Army Radio for my plane.
