'Hi All
I have just started with this 46 F24W (minus the warner part) project and have a very long way to go. Two Ranger engines came with the project and I hope to get enough good parts to make one running engine. I am looking for an overhaul manual (already have the parts cataloge on order); does anyone know where I can get a copy? Both engines are 440-C6 models.
I am also trying to decide what to do about a mount. Options; 1. I have leads on some PT mounts but don't know enough about the differences between them and the F24R mount. My cowling is PT cowling. 2. I would like to pick up an F24R mount instead, but if that fails, 3. I have some factory drawings (dimension are not legible) but with some reserch I could dimension them and build a mount. I would prefer option # 2 as I understand the PT cowling can be modified to fit.
Any advise on where to get the Ranger manual and on the Ranger engine conversion is greatly appreciated.

'Rich,
Welcome to the club.
Give Essco a call for the Ovhl Manual.
ESSCO (Fairchild Aircraft & Engine Manuals) http://www.esscoaircraft.com
Toll Free 877-318-1555
In regard to your mount options. The PT mount will not work, four point vs.
five point attach at the firewall.
You can use the beams for a starter on the F-24 mount. The club has good
drawings of the mount. They are on the Fairchild Club CD Rom.
I have the Ranger Engine Mount Jig for the club use. You can use or I will
make a mount if you give me lots of lead time.
The PT cowling will not work with the exception of the nose bowl.
As for the conversion, follow the Type Cert, same for both.

Re: New Member questions
'Hi Jamie
Thanks for the warm welcome and for the all the good information. I was getting a lot of questionable info from all my airport bum friends. Joining this club is the smartest thing I've done in a long time. Everyone has been extreamly helpful. John Berendt is sending me a copy of the factory mount drawings and thanks to you I found the Ranger overhaul manual. I shopped ESSCO's web site for a couple of hours over the past few days but didn't find the overhaul manual until tonite.
Unless a genuine F24 Ranger mount falls into my lap soon; I think I would like to fabricate one to the prints. I have a new Lincoln tig welder that I'm trying to master and this Ranger mount looks like a good challenge. Thanks for all the help and I'm sure we'll be talking again soon.
