'Fairchilders:
It was wonderful to meet friends, old and new, at the Fairchild Reunion
this weekend. Thanks to Mike & Penny for doing a great job hosting the
event. The weather was fine all weekend at Coldwater, although precip
in the surrounding area may have reduced attendance (but Jim & Ed flew
up Sunday morning after driving in on Saturday).
Norb McLuckie was the advance scout and arrived Thursday. Ed Wegner
ferried John Berendt and Charlie Bell down from Wisconsin. Ed Escallon
was hopping PT rides Saturday afternoon until dinner time. A number of
Fairchilders whose planes arent currently flying drove in for
inspiration and passersby dropped in to see what all the fuss was
about. Judd brought a test sample of a wing spar splice he needs to
get his 24 flying again. Penny prepared a hot hangar lunch for all on
Saturday and ensured we stayed hydrated all weekend. Mike gave tours
of his hangar workshop where he rebuilds PT woodwork. Robin & Ted
arrived via PT-23 to ensure that there was at least one radial engine
present. Bob & Bill flew Bill's beautiful PT up from Middletown just
before its first annual since restoration. We went out for a group
dinner at a Chinese restaurant on Saturday night. Sunday morning saw a
flight of three PTs doing flybys before people left for home.
Looking forward to the next Reunion.
