'I would like to know if there are any PT-19s or their offspring in
Texas? I live in Austin,TX and am new to the group.

My father flew the PT-19 in Texas and I have some small photos of
the aircraft he flew and would like to see one up close and if all
went as I hope to fly in an open cocpit version. Thanks for any info
you can provide. Philip 512 447-3818 call collect if you want.'

'The aircraft I own was once a PT-19. However, it is registered with the FAA as a PT-26. This was because it was converted when the canopy was installed so I have been told. I have also been told that there were no PT-26's built in the USA, all were built in Canada.

The CAF has a PT-19 on display in the headquarters hangar in Midland. The CAF High Sky Wing across the way also has one, at least they did as it might have been sold by now. The CAF Desert Squadron also has one in Odessa that they just purchased.

Just up the road from Midland, in Hobbs, New Mexico, is a perfect example (the best I have ever seen) of a PT-19 at the CAF New Mexico Wing. It still has the hand crank start.

Hello Nick,

Whoever gave you that information must have been mistaken, as
Fairchild did indeed build PT-26's in the U.S. while Fleet built them
in Canada.

My PT-26 project is a Fairchild built example. (Although like yours,
mine is registered incorrectly with the FAA as a PT-23.)

Hope this helps. Have a GREAT day!
