'Anybody out there have a 24 with a Scott 3200 (or the like) on a
leaf spring mount? I've heard it done and am curious if a member here
has info (i.e. 337's). I searched the message archives and saw no
results.'

It was done one time in Switzerland it was not a very good installation.
There are not 337's in the states for the conversion.

Well stated. Also the Waco owners have converted to the 3200 and leaf
springs. They end up replacing the springs due to sag and also modify the
3200 with a locking device to prevent shimmy. The last 1930 WACO ASO
destroyed a right wing returning from Bartlesville. The empty weight at the
three point is between 250 and 300lbs. Then add fuel, pilot & passengers and
the weight can hit an easy 450-500lbs. That is a lot of weight on a
tailspring.

Lesson here, stick with the org manf equipment.
