F24 fuselage stringers

'Lads my F24 ( in need of full restoration ) arrived today and I can't say how please I am
to have it. The right wing is shot as was indicated by the seller but the fuselage is in great
shape. One thing I noticed was that someone else had his hand in some restoration earlier
and contrary to what I saw on Tom Downey's site, the fuselage stringers at least on the upper
fuselage area in the turtle deck area are not wood, but 6061 T6 round aluminum, 1/2" .035 tube.
We didn't get a chance to examine the lower stringers etc and maybe they are the same way.
Has anyone else seen or heard of round aluminum stringers being used?
On another note, I cannot believe the amount of paperwork that came with the airplane. I'm
embarassed at the way I take care of paperwork even around the house after examining the
trail of crumbs these owners left behind. Several owners contributed to a short list of owners
since '41 even including interesting anecdotes about the sale price of the plane from various
owners to the next. There's even the documentation decertifying the airplane from the US and
recertifying it up in Canada. It was a UC61 at one time having done some military duty.
As a side note to John Berendt..I had no idea of how much paperwork would come with the
plane and in fact just about every drawing, parts list, POH type things all came with it in
duplicate. I appreciate your reply earlier about my manuals question which you sent directly to
me and will send a cheque shortly to join the Fairchild Club.
It's been a real nice day..in fact one hell of a nice day.
