'Tom Downey and the list,..I noticed on your excellent site that you sent a pile of metal parts
out for cleaning. Somewhere on the site in mentioned glass beading. Is this how
you stripped the fuselage when it went out to the "clean shop" too? All metal parts
got the glass bead treatment? What technique did you use to determine if any
fuselage longerons needed replacing other than you didn't like the look of the
pitting? I think there is a punch test tool designed for the job, but I've never even
seen one. What have others done?
With regards to the cad plating, do you know if the cad plating adds any dimension
to the parts? Thanks..

Yes, I had the local truck sand blaster do the job, I bought the
1100 grit glass bead.

You can drill a small hole to determine the thickness of the tube,
then fill with a self tapping screw. most of the tubes are .035" I
used the rule of any pitting was too much.
Yes it does, remember the platers must be aircraft approved, to do
the baking to relieve hydrogen embrittlement after plating. Canada
mileage may vary.
