'Anybody have a useable fuel gauge for a R46, or can a new one be
bought that will work with a Fairchild sending unit. I'll probably
be needing a sending unit for the opposite tank also.

I have not found a sender that will work with the original Fairchild Gauges.
There are Stewart Warner gauges and sender that will work as a replacement.
When I get back from Oshkosh I can look up the numbers and send them to you.
Send me e-mail o the 9th of November to remind me.

'Tom,
I used the Stewart Warner gauges and senders, and modified the faces
by adding a Fairchild logo (Flying horse and the letters FA). There
is a picture of one of them, at
http://www.cpinternet.com/mmmpc728/fuel%20gauge.htm
Sorry that the fuel level was half full, and obscured part of the
image. If I remember correctly, I painted over the words Stewart
Warner. I would have to look real close to see.

'Thanks Bob, beautiful gauge. I'm looking for a gauge
to replace the left one.The rehostat on the back
fell apart as I removed It. I don't know what to buy
that's compatible with a Fairchild sending unit.
I also understand from the previous owner the
sending unit in the opposite tank is not working.
I am having trouble locating original parts.
I could learn to live with modern replacement units, but
I don't know what will work with the Fairchild F24.

'John,
I would be grateful for the same info - my senders and gauges have been with
a guy that said he could rewind the senders for a year and a half - so I'm
not too hopeful at present.
Progress has been very slow of late - work is getting in the way!
Many thanks indeed

'Bob: How did you get the Fairchild logo and letters on the gage
face? Is there a decal for that (I drink too much coffee to be able
to do it with a brush)? Let me know and thanks for the nice picture.

'Brad,
I used a copy machine, and reduced a printed image (from a Fairchild
manual?) down to size. I then cut it out and glued it to the face
of the gauge. I think I also 'painted out' the Stewart Warner name
on the gauge. I did something similar to my Tachometer. It adds a
nice touch.
