Scuff Plate

'To All: I just received a quote of $160 for a 3x3 piece of scuff
plate (pattern 2-WL) from Rigidized Metals. Talk about sticker
shock.... Does anyone have any spare pieces of this pattern they'd
like to sell? I only need about 3 or 4 square feet of it for my
rudder pedals and one other area on the airplane but the minimum
order size Rigidized requires is 3x3. If no one has a small piece
they'd like to sell, would anyone like to buy my leftover plate or
share the cost of a larger order from Rigidized?

Is that the same as the dorr sills on a F-24, If so, I will share a
3X3 chunk.
I need enough to make the sills on my parject.. 6"X36" twice, would
be enough for me.'

'Tom: I just learned that Fairchild used four different patterns for
their scuff plate with no correlation between serial number /
factory / model # and the scuff plate pattern (they just used
whatever was on hand at the time). So before we share an order of
this expensive stuff, you may want to check the Rigidized web site
and make sure our airplanes use the the same pattern (Rigidized
pattern # 2WL is what my airplane uses). If they do, call me at
(817) 280-9306 and we can split the order. I'm sorry I don't have
the web address on me right now, but it's on the Fairchild CD-ROM and
you might be able to find it by searching the web under "Rigidized
Metals".
Good luck with your project and let me know if our patterns are the
same.
Best Wishes,

'I assume you are referring to the material used on the bottom of the door
opening and various other places about the airplane.
What is original? Neck.....mine had 2 or 3 totally different patterns.
(diamond, square, and I forget about the third, if there really was a third)
I am rebuilding the parts using the mini-diamond plate. I was able to get
it 30 years ago, and still today.
