'Here's what you need to do:
Contact the local FSDO Airworthiness Inspector about
what you want to do. Make sure you talk with the one
who does propulsion. Keep in mind that this guy knows
absolutley nothing about a Ranger and you must educate
him.
Write a short letter describing the proposed changes.
Reference the tech info you plan to use and make
copies for his review. This will be sections of the
Ranger manual, Ranger Service Bulletins, AD's and
Advisory Circulars. Prepare two unsigned and undated
copies of the 337 for the engine. Reference the TCDS,
E-216 for the Ranger and provide a copy. On the back
side of the 337, reference part numbers for the
pistons you are removing and the pistons you are
installing and how the work is done. List the
appropriate sections of the manual, any service
bulletins, AD compliance and Advisory Circulars that
might apply. Also list any appropriate FAR's.
Now, for the airframe. Check the TCDS for the
aircraft you plan to install the engine on. If the
engine is listed as approved, prepare two unsigned and
undated 337's referencing the approved equipment. If
the engine is not listed, reference a similar airframe
that the engine is installed on.

One thing to consider is for you to determine if this
is a major or minor alteration. Check FAR Part 1 for
the definitions.

Here's the kicker. You may have to change the model
designation of your aircraft. For example, if you
have a F-24R40 which lists the 6-390, you may have to
change it to the F24R46A which uses the 6-440-C5.
AND, you must also change your registration and
airworthiness certificate to reflect the change! An
M62A (175hp) must be changed to a M62A-3 or -4 to
reflect the 200hp engine.

Now are you sorry you asked? ;0)

Question: I need an Ammeter for my UC-61K, I found
someone on the internet that shows a "PT-19/23"
Ammeter. Are these the same 3" units used in the F24
aircraft?
If not, does anyone have a spare 3" ammeter that can
be sold or traded out of a F24
thanks
