'Norbert,
First things first, use several long pieces of locking wire and attach to
ends of the chains before you try to remove as you will be feeding the new wire
and chains onto the sprockets. Have fun but don't let go of the ends what ever
you do. Good luck, Bruce

'I thought of doing the same thing on my Fairchild. I found out that the
Fairchild used a chain that is different from what may be common now.
I could look into it again, but if memory serves me correct, Fairchild used
something like 24 links per foot chain, and what Cessna used is a 25 link
per foot.
I may have the numbers reversed. Close, but no cigar. I have several feet
of new chain that I couldn't use. The price was cheap, and it never dawned
on me that there would be more than one size of small chain.
