Buying a F24?

'Hi,all.I'm thinking about selling my beloved 1941 J-3 and moving up
to something larger(and FASTER!).I looked at a 1939 F24 a few years
ago and believe it is still available.I'm concerned that the cotton
fabric is ,I believe, about 30 yrs. old, although I believe the
airplane has flown very little in that time.As I remember it has a
200hp. Ranger with maybe a few hundred hours since overhaul. Not a bad
airplane overall. This may be a loaded question, but what would such an
airplane be worth? What would it cost to recover wether I did it
(materials) or had the job farmed out? What are the overhaul costs of
a Ranger and are the parts and expertise out there to help me
maintain the engine and airframe? What type of regular service does
this airplane require? I do have an A&P but have limited accesss to
facilities.Thanks in advance, Dave Griffith'

'. Thanks all ,for the excellent advice I've recieved off-line.I think
the airplane in mention is more of a project than I want to tackle
what with a likely recover and who-knows-what with the engine).I'll
keep looking but there is probably too much of a price gap between
the Cub and a F24(a flyable one, that is).I'll have to save my pennies
for now.'
