'Well, after getting a couple of enquiries after this message having been up for
about twenty minutes, I am definitely going to do this.

I have found a company that produces a lot of aviation stuff, including DH Gypsy
engine mount stuff, Yak engine mounts, hoses and stuff for lots of warbirds and
specialist rubber stuff (no sniggering at the back - it is all aviation)

The more of these that I can place, the cheaper they are going to be. The set up
cost is not massive but will be a big hit if I just do a few sets. So, if you are
interested, or you are likely to need a new set in a year or two, get in touch now
and we can get these made.

I have originals that are going to be examined and tested so the material is
exactly right but if anyone has the original drawings or material specification
that wiull save time.

Also, if you know of any other types that have these shock mounts then please
let me know so I can move even more of them.

e a F-24 with the same shocks mounts. I am also interested in having a set just so I have them if they are ever needed. Let me know in the future what you estimate the cost be. Thanks Tom

'I am very interested in a set of engine mount rubber parts for the 145
Warner on a Fairchild 24, but do these also fit a 165 Warner? Does any one
know if the mounts are the same for a 145 and 165? What about the 185
Warner? My knowledge in this engine mount area is very limited. Are the
rubber mounts the same or different? Thanks for anyone's help. Allen S.

See if they would create new Ranger bushing also. I have a spare if needed
for an evaluation. Our stock will soon run out.

I looked on the Fairchild CD, no engine bushing drawings for the Warner
install, only the 165/185 mount drawings. If know one has any more data, may
need to reverse engineer it.

My engine mount rubbers are out, I can read the Lord Co. numbers.
why not ask them if they have any?

I recently purchased a set of NEW Ranger Lord Mounts
from Fresno Airparts. At first they only found three,
a week later, they found a box of 6 more. The
gentleman at Fresno Air indicated that thats the end
of their surplus. They were going to inquire with
LORD to manufacture more, but. they did not have
enough inquiries to pursue the cost of restocking
these. I bought 8 out of 9. I will keep 1 set for my
baby, the other 4......?

'A small curiosity...

I recently noticed that the wheels rotate in flight, no doubt due to the
aerodynamic effect of the wheel pants. I happened to notice this as I
was trying to view the ground under the airplane with my head right up
against the side window. The wheel bearings must be in good shape .

'On my recent trip, I noticed a pattern when checking for hydraulic lock
during preflight. I never saw oil drain from the exhaust stacks if the
prop had been positioned vertically, but it was not infrequent if the
prop were left horizontally. When parked outside, I had formerly always
left the prop horizontal to minimize rain or dew from draining into the
prop hub along the blade shank (its a Hartzell Hydro Selective). In
either case, I have never encountered hydraulic lock, but the oil
draining from the stack can cause a mess. It doesnt seem that the
orientation would have any effect on oil draining into the cylinders.
Perhaps the rings have a better static seal at certain positions in the
piston stroke?

'I noticed that my left side did, but never checked the right side.
Another thing to check, is you main gear struts extending all the way while
in flight. I had one that was stuck and never extended beyond what the main
spring would push it.
