Walter, I suggest you get something like Norton Antivirus and run it
soon to clean out your computer, but it may be too late and the virus
may be altering or deleting files from your system without your
knowledge. If your computer starts acting strange, that would be further
evidence to support the virus theory. Just trying to help you out before
you end up having to reload your operating system and starting over from
scratch. Been there, done that!

'Walt,

Norton or Mcafee don't have the fix as of yet. Both virus scan software will
isolate it and then you will need to wait for the update from you Virus
Software company. I got it from an email which came from Johns Computer which
came from Bob Waldrons. Sneaky little virus, gets into your email system and
sends out emails all by itself. I should have known better, John never sends
me attachments. Some damage to my Windows .exe files, don't know which ones
they operate, will find out someday. Will end up reloading Windows.

All you can do is keep you Virus software updated every day, auto update and
hope for the best.

Take care

'Walt,

Again, I nor anybody else are trying to personally attack you on the
virus issue. Everyday, I've been getting an email from my email
provider, indicating that I am receiving "suspicious" emails from your
computer. It says it is coming from your machine directly, not through
the Fairchild list. As someone else pointed out, the viruses can strip
off email information on emails that are just sitting in your inbox or
stored anywhere on the hard disk. They do this automatically and without
any intervention from you. Everytime you connect to the internet, the
virus sends out an email to all other email addresses it happens to find
from anywhere within your computer. Today I received 2 emails from my
provider. One indicates it came from your machine and both indicate 2
different viruses. Your adamant denials concern me. I think it would
make for better public relations if you would try to set up your
antivrus scan program as someone else who is familiar with McAfee
stated, to automatically update your virus definitions and hopefully get
this bug killed. Surely you can find a local friend whom you consider a
guru to help you out if necessary. You might even try to contact a local
high school or college. Many have a computer club or at least a lot of
computer eggheads who love to solve these problems just for the ego
boost! I AM one of those eggheads, just re-entering college at age 39.
Some of the kids in my classes are VERY computer saavy. That is
certainly an easy and inexpensive route you can take and it shows the
guys here that you are trying your best to get this figured out.

Again, this is NOT a personal attack!!!! We are desperately trying to
save you tons of hassle down the road...having to reload the operating
system and the subsequent loss of all files on your machine just plain
sucks.

Here are the messages sent to me by my provider (showing that you now
appear to be infected with the PE_MAGISTR.B virus as well):
