'Hi this is Mrs Dave, Last time I tired to attach this
letter it didn,t work (message 734) so here goes
again.
Hi I Dave Mawick a new member of the Fairchild Club.
I'm restoring a F24w I would be grateful for your
help, details below;
RE FAIRCHILD F24W
I am restoring a Fairchild F24W 41A ex R.A.F.,
construction number AC43-14783. Built in 1943, civil
registered G-AJSG in 1947. Shipped to Australia in
1954, then stored in good dry conditions since 1961..
It is the only one in New Zealand, so there are no
local experts on this particular aircraft. I have
just about finished stripping down the fuselage ready
for inspection before light sand blasting and
repainting.
I would appreciate any advice as to where to look on
the fuselage frame for possible cracks, and the best
way to check for possible internal corrosion, and the
most important places on the to look F24.
I am intending to finish the F24 in the bright red and
white similar to the F24W N49547. I would be most
grateful if anyone can give me the official name of
the red paint used, and in what colour the fuselage
frame, the seat trim and the cockpit lining, should
be finished to maintain an authentic 1940?s colour
scheme.
Regards
David Marwick
