'Hi All,

I was curious about an ad run by E-Z Heat about their pad heaters. In
the ad they stated no STC was required. I emailed them, asking if they
had paperwork to prove that, and asking which pad they would recommend
for application to the Warner oil tank. Here is their response:

Dan:
Yes we have paperwork to back it up. We have a letter from
the FAA stating that since it has no function when the
aircraft
is operating and weighs less than a pound. no stc or 337 is
required. We will fax a copy to you if you like. As for the
model, I recommend the model 470 as it is a glue on and
more flexible than our peel and stick models.
Thanks for asking, Mike

Jamie, maybe there is hope for the FAA yet.

The E-Z Heat web site is at: http://www.e-zheat.com Their pads run about
$160. (Of course, as I read their note, an automotive pad could probably
also be used. But heck, they did the legwork so they deserve some
support)
