'Just a word of caution for those who have F-24's with towing rings. Don't use them for "Tie-Down Rings". A friend of mine used the towing rings for tie down purposes. Along came a brief wind, a dust devil I presume. The airplane tried to fly. After the oleos reached the end of their travel, the towing rings broke loose and over she went. Both broke under heavy side load. The top of the cabin was crushed, spars cracked from the butt end to the lift strut attach points and smashed the tail.
