'Hello

I am restoring a F24W 1943. Warner 165.
The mixture control on my plane has no friction or detents. The carburator has a spring wich keeps the control always open, full rich.
Is that right ?? With the fuel prices here in Europe we must lean the fuel. Avgas 100LL costs about 4 dollars a gallon!!!!!!!!!

'Paul,

AV gas here has gone up to about $2.75 -3.00 gallon.

The mixture should be a locking knob. They are spring loaded to full rich in case the control breaks, but you should be able to lock it where it is needed. I will try to get a picture and scan one in so you can see it.

Thanks,
Gene

'Paul,

I just read both your emails. You have the mixture and carb. heat hooked up to the wrong controls. The carb heat is a push pull and the mixture is a locking.
