I'm looking for anti-chafing material to be used between the oil tank
and firewall, and under the oil tank straps. I've seen felt used on the
firewall, and cowling chafe cloth tape, but these tend to soak up oil.
Any better ideas?

'I used 'Viton Rubber' - I'm in UK - not sure who has it in the US. It's
available in all thicknesses and widths or get a sheet and cut off strips as
required.

Googling 'Viton Rubbe'r should find a supplier.

'Thanks for everyone's input on the anti-chafing material. Rubber sounds
good to me.

Another question: I'm fitting up the oil system components, and can't
get the oil cooler duct (the one exiting the cooler) to fit. It rubs
against the oil tank. I see where it has chafed over the years. I'm
tempted to modify the oil cooler brackets to allow me to move the oil
cooler forward an inch or two, but that would require surgery - cut and
weld, which I can do, but there must be something I'm overlooking. The
cooler brackets don't allow much range of position. Any advice will be
much appreciated!
