Drawing 41505 desperately needed

Post by Seifert »

'I have been waiting for almost 1 year now to order a drawing from the NASM and they still don't know when they will be able to accept drawing requests. As many of you know their expected move completion date keeps moving out. With the federal budget in the shape it's in, we may have to wait much longer to request drawings. I have completed all the bottom fuselage frame components for my 1946 F24 except for frame 41505 at station 3-1/2B. That frame drawing is not on the club CD and I have not been able to locate a drawing anywhere. I'm sending this request out to the club again, in hopes some kind soul may have a drawing copy or tracing of this frame to share.
Thanks
Rich Seifert

'Rich, I am not sure what details you are in need of from drawing 41505, but perhaps 'The Handbook Of Instructions For The Structural Repair Of The C-61
(UC-61, F-24) Series Transport Airplanes may meet your needs. The handbook is Army Air Force, Technical Order No.012-1125CA-3 issued 20 Nov 1942.
I believe the Essco or other dealers have the manual or I can send you a copy of mine if need be. Hope this helps.      Hugh

'Hello Hugh
I need the profile of the bottom frame from the drawing. All my other bottom frames were made to the drawings; so for it to fit properly the 41505 frame should be made from the drawing also. I am using the Fairchild Handbook 0f F-24 Series Airplanes, The Erection and Maintenance manuel for the UC-61 & Argus aircraft, and the Parts Catalog for the UC-61 & Argus aircraft, and they are a great help, but the profile can only come from the drawing.
I also have the structural repair manuel for the F-24, and am using it for any repairs but in this case, I have to make the frame from scratch because I don't have an old part to repair.
Thanks for the offer anyway Hugh.
