F24 Front Glass

Post by robert Etter »

'What is the easiest approach to installing new front glass/plastic?  I as
nearing the point to wrapping the upholstery around the "A" pillar.  The
windshield frame isn't attached.  I have thought about it for a long time, and
have concluded that installing the glass while it rest on a large cushioned
table (not to scratch paint).  Install the seal the center piece first,
obvious.  And let the sealant set up for a week.  (I can get really messy when I
get into a rush.)  I was also thinking about placing a piece of plywood in the
shape of the glass between the table and metal frame, before everything starts
to setup.   Let the weight of the glass press the frame as flat as possible.
Use cleco's initially to hold the interior frame pieces in place.  Then the 2
outer pieces.
I am leaning toward using RTV, clear.  It isn't too messy to handle.

Does it sound reasonable?

Bob
