Looking for Cont. R-670 Engine Mount for Fairchild 24
'Hello all,
I am looking for an engine mount for some friends. A Continental R-670 mount that can fit on a Fairchild 24. The plane is a 1946 24W-46. The current owners want to change the Warner engine to Continental. Anybody have an extra mount lying around or know where to find one?
Thanks in advance.

'Give the guy a break, he is bolting a differnt engine on it not chopping it up. If he ever sells it, the new owner can put on an original engine again Crips do you condem the guys for putting PT6's on DC3's to keep them flying, or the Stinson owner for putting in a Lycoming to get rid of the hard to find, good parts for it Franklin. What about the guy who put a Ranger in place of the Warner, it was optional but not original. And me I put Clevelands on, wingtip strobes, alternator and oh my god, a radio.
It can be put to original again, in the mean time he will enjoy flying it.

Re: Looking for Cont. R-670 Engine Mount for Fairchild 24
'Nowadays, with quick-protyping it is quite easy to re-manufacture parts, from pistons to main case, and of course all parts coming from turning, grinding, as gaers etc..are as well easy to remanufacture!
Just a question in the need of parts and investments in new tooling!
Today it is easy to maintain a Packard-Merlin, so why not a Warner, a Kinner, a Franklin, etc... (maybe only a problem with patent holder?? who may not accept re-manufacturing).
For me there are only two kind of F24.. R and W... other conversions won't be able to wear the brand "fairchild", as they become personnal homebuilt prototype (should be registered as homebuilt either)...as there was no F24 C (continental) or F24 J (jocobs)...
Of course I am not opposed to re-powering any aircraft, but in this case please change the name of it!! Just a question of respect to the orginals!
And I am sure it is still possible to re-manufacture complete aircrafts as well, just look to the Waco YMF rebuild during early 2000's, they were all sold, and they wear new designation "YMF"!!
