I'll be adding to the site as I get stuff done, more after the 1st of the
year.
I'm sure there are a few errors. You can let me know what you need @

New Club Website! How can I contribute?

Post by Geoff Guest »

'Hello Don et al;

Thank you and everyone else involved in resurrecting the site and volunteering your time, energy, and willingness to do so. It is excellent and promises to be even more with future contributions.
We are the current care givers of two 1936 Type 24-C8Es with Warner SS145s and have been involved with their restoration and operation for over fifteen years. With this investment of time one gets to gain a fair amount of knowledge on type. One area I have tinkered in for historical accuracy is the Type 24s of the mid 1930s. This began a few years ago by referencing the FAA, Transport Canada, Canadian Archives, British, Australian, and New Zealand registration databases purely to determine how many still survive or at least remain registered. The opportunity to correct inaccuracies with a little research and making connections with other owners has lead to a network of friends that stop at nothing to assist another Fairchild owner. If other Fairchild Club members would like to have access to this information reflecting the current status of Fairchild 24 aircraft I would be willing to expand and continue updating my listing with input from all members. If some do not want some particulars posted we could accomodate their requests. Let me know what you think, I would like to contribute.

Long distance planning...Sun n Fun

Post by David Stroud »

'Lads...it's a long time away, but we're planning to do our Friday night BBQ at Sun n Fun again this year.

It's always been well atttended and well recieved but not to many Fairchild buffs ever seem to
come over. We do it at our trailer in a convenient and easy to find location. We always serve
BBQ pork tenderloin on a bun, cole slaw, potato salad, pickles, natcho chips / salsa, munchies
etc. and for only $10 it includes two free drinks...wine, beer, water, juice...whatever. NO BYOB.
We have served up to 85 people from all over the world....not Fairchild specific, just flying friends
from about anywhere.

We do it by honor reservation only but we're not taking reservations yet. If there is a sufficient
show of interest from the list soon, I'll post the official announcement in mid January. All a person
needs to do is say you'll be there, we do all the work and depend on you being there. It's our tenth
year doing it. I want to make it very clear that this is not done in any way to be competition to any
food/beverage vendors on the Sun n Fun site. It is purely intended to provide a convenient location
for a gathering of flying friends who might otherwise leave the Sun n Fun grounds to get together at
some local restaurant and then have the inconvenience of having to find their way back in the dark.
We normally start around 4:30 pm and it goes on well after dark. Singles, couples, groups and familys
welcome. It is a party though...a very informal one.

If anyone on the list is interested, please say so and I'll do the official invitation in January. Thanks.
