Need Opinions

Post by mcclurebill@rocketmail.com »

'I'm in need of an overhaul for a Warner 145. Not many out there still doing these. I really need experiences and opinions on the shops out there still doing these, ASAP. Looking at Holloway Engineering in particular, but would like opinions on any you may have had experiences lately. Either here, or to burnmcc@aol.com.

I am new owner of a F-24G. Looking forward to many happy hours. I have had a long history of aircraft ownership, some antiques, but never had a Fairchild. I look forward to participating in the forum and club. I am an A&P/IA, but mostly Beech background.

Thanks in advance.

'Welcome aboard, Bill. I own a 1941 PT-19 with a Ranger so can't help much
with the Warner. There are lots of helpful folks on this Fairchild list, so
I am sure someone will be able to help you. I am also more familiar with
Beech products. I am past pres of the ABS and still active with them.

Bill:
I know someone who has been doing radial engines since WW2 !
He has done a TON of 670's and lots of warner 165. I think he
is willing to do 145 warners. He is in central florida and is
a very respected A+P with MANY references !!!! (all good)
If you want I will get in touch with him. If he has a computer I will have him come up on the forum. Or, you can E-Mail me and I can return you his phone # or call you with it !

'Try Radial Engines Ltd. in Guthrie OK, tel (405) 433 2263. They're an FAA approved repair station & very good with an excellent reputation. Prices are accordingly, but when completed, you can fly with piece of mind. Be advised, the 145 is not an easy engine for parts etc. I know several persons that sold their aircraft & projects just on that point. It's a rare & expensive engine.

If nothing else, I would call & discuss the project to see what your getting into.

Good Luck!
