Cam box bushing mod..

Post by michaelmps »

'This club has helped me with %100 results and I need advise/help again.

In dealing with a sick 440, I found 2 broken valve springs. Both on the
#2 cyl. Upon dissambly I saw the cam dosnt ride on all of the journals
correctly. I do believe it needs a line bore and after running a strait
edge along the upper cam box I proved the issue. This 440 is 200 SMOH.
The #2 piston rings have a .062 gap. The valve springs were pitted
because of rust which caused the breakage. Many more found with out
breakage. Looks like a pencil wip overhaul.

Ok , The Question. In 2001 I read an artical about someone who puts
bushings in the cambox on Ranger engines.

Who is it and where can I contact him ?Anyone done it? Do you recomend
it?

Cheers,

Michael in Houston
