Photo of old F-71 in "Fairchild with Jumpers" album

Post by JOHN »

'At a recent parachute industry symposuium in Barcelona, I found this
old photo hanging on a vendors wall. The company, Paragear, is still
in business. Taken in the late 60s, it shows eight or nine jumpers
hanging all over a Fairchild 71 based in Washington. I'm told by old
timers in the Skydiving community that this particular aircraft was a
real work horse in its day. I googled the N-number, and found that it
still actively flown, more recent photos are on the web, and the
current owner made his first jump from this aircraft many years ago!

By chance, I mentioned this aircraft photo to a local Florida jumper,
Vickie Johnson, who replied that she had made many jumps from this
aircraft more than thirty years ago in the Seattle area!

I hope the owner is active in this group, as I'd like to hear from
him. I'll be in Seattle next week to pick up and fly home a vintage
biplane I just bought. I would love to pop up to Snohomish to see
this Fairchild 71, if that is possible. It would be a great way to
start what I hope will be a cross country flight I'll never forget...

Cheers,

'The owner of the airplane in question is Jack Ady and last I spoke
with him the Fairchild was still for sale. He lives adjacent to the
airport in Snohomish(Harvey Field) and the airplane is in an open
hangar there.
